The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), a not-for-profit global organisation that works towards advancing the adoption of storage networking solutions in the broader market, has given SNIA India a self-governing regional affiliate status.
 
Addressing reporters on Thursday, Wayne M Adams, chairman, SNIA said, "With the continued globalisation of IT operations and high-tech development and customer care investments in India, SNIA will deliver increased value through the formal affiliation of SNIA India for the organisation as a whole."
 
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of SNIA India in advancing storage industry education, programmes and relationships, Adams said that SNIA looked forward to a continued growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
 
According to the organisation, SNIA has been serving India though its South-Asia's country programme for the last two years. Presently, SNIA boasts of a growing membership in India, with over 60 storage vendors, channel members, end-users, institutions and individuals.
 
SNIA-India which is active across five major Indian cities including Bangalore, has also started an initiative for developing a SNIA storage lab in Bangalore. The lab will be located in the campus of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore.
 
"The increasing presence of global storage vendors, systems integrators and storage professionals in India has made storage networking a key focus area in this region," said P K Gupta, chairman of SNIA India.
