Speaking to Business Standard, Sudheer Koneru, senior vice-president (international operations), SumTotal Systems, said, "At present, we employ 220 people in Hyderabad. We will be increasing our headcount to 270 by December this year."
SumTotal has more than 600 customers globally, with very few being in India. Some of these include Polaris and Patni Computers. Besides, as part of its global client base, SumTotal has deployed its learning management systems (LMS) for HSBC and will be rolling out the solution soon for HSBC India in the next six months.
"The Indian industry is not yet big enough a market for us at present. But we see many companies recognising the need for deploying LMS on their front. We, therefore, will wait for the market to mature and then deploy our own sales force within the next 12 months," Koneru said. In India, NIIT and CA Satyam have partnered with SumTotal for selling the latter's solutions.
SumTotal provides its solutions to various sectors like pharmaceutical, healthcare, retail and consumer goods, telecommunications, computer hardware and software besides government and defence.
In the government sector, SumTotal has rolled out its solutions for National Health Service (NHS), the publicly-funded healthcare system of the United Kingdom. NHS provides majority of healthcare services in the UK, and around 50 per cent of the people working under NHS now have access to solutions based on SumTotal's technology. The implementation at NHS was done by SumTotal's partners " Accenture and British Telecom.
SumTotal Systems will be closing its deal for acquiring Pathlore Software Corporation for approximately $48 million by October this year. With this synergy, it will be ending this year with revenues of $100 million.
