Embarking on a major IT talent hunt, Thiruvananthapuram-based SunTec Business Solutions has kicked off an initiative that would help the company hire the cream among engineering students in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

The initiative is seen as helping SunTec add a sizeable number of professionals in its fold by the end of the year.

Speaking to Business Standard, G Vijayaraghavan, director, SunTec, said the company had organised an HR-Academia meet this month.

"We invited placement officers and student representatives from over 47 colleges in Kerala and Tamil Nadu to the meet, which was aimed as an interface with the academic community and also to showcase SunTec, the organisation," he said.

The participants were taken through a presentation that discussed the reasons why an aspiring professional should join SunTec. "SunTec's senior management also highlighted on career growth, training facilities, and other factors one enjoys on being a SunTec employee," he added.

Vijayaraghavan said the year 2008 would see the largest contingent of new recruits walking into SunTec. "We expect to add 50 professionals by March 2008 and another 50 by July. This will make it the SunTec's biggest recruitment exercise till date in a single year," he said.

The company, a provider of relationship-based pricing and centralised billing solutions for banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI), communication, media and entertainment (CME) and utilities industries, has also lined up technical presentations in colleges.

The company's clientele includes banking majors like HSBC, ING Bank, DBS , as well as CME giants like Comcast, BSNL, Uninet, and MTNL, among others . It has operations in the US, UK, Germany, UAE, Singapore and three locations in India.
