"Through the five-year agreement, Tata Comm will become BT's primary supplier of International Direct Dial (IDD) and other voice termination services outside BT's own footprint countries," said Tata Comm in a notification to Bombay Stock Exchange.

In turn, BT will become Tata Comm main distribution channel for its IDD traffic in UK. BT will also support Tata Comm voice ventures in other European markets as the relationship matures

Michel Guyot, president of global voice solutions at Tata Comm, said: "The agreement will increase both partners' competitiveness and will enhance our respective service offerings. ...we are confident that BT's resources and strong knowledge of the European market will be of great benefit to Tata Comm."

Brian Fitzpatrick, managing director, BT Wholesale Markets, said: "Partnering Tata Comm will help us achieve additional economies of scale."
