Tata Teleservices is exploring the option of introducing iphone soon. It is also banking on its data business to boost revenues.
At a press conference in Kolkata today, Sanjiv Sinha, regional head (East) and COO, Tata Indicom, said, "We are looking into the possibility of introducing iphone in the country soon. We have not fixed a deadline yet."
"One of our focus areas in 2010 will be to boost our data business. So we have a bundled offer with Blackberry phones and now we have introduced a bundled offer with high speed data-enabled services on Samsung Corby."
According to industry estimates, around 20 per cent of mobile phone users are hooked on to data services on mobile. With Samsung Corby, prepaid and postpaid subscribers will get 10 GB and 15 GB respectively as free trial usage to be used in the first two months.
