Tata Teleservices plans to widen its network from the present reach of 1400 cities to 2500 cities by next March.

"We are expanding at the rate of four cities per day," said Prabhat Pani, chief operating officer, Tata Teleservices (Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh). At present the company has a highway coverage of 1,300 km in Karnataka and this will help customers utilise its voice and data services.

The increasing metamorphosis of the telephone from just a voice communication device to a single point of convergence with the latest applications like wireless technology solutions has changed the face of communication.

As a part of this transformation, Tata Indicom has come out with a wide range of products wherein both voice and data can be transferred.

CDMA 1X enabled applications of Tata Indicom provide various offerings from devices to basic connectivity and applications. One of its solutions is the 'Road Warrior Data', which enables users to access data while moving and is meant for business executives.

It also launched the Tata Indicom Vdata card, a convergence product that encompasses the functions of a wireless network card, a mobile phone and a modem.

The company is also providing data connectivity for ATMs and point of sale machines using wireless technology solutions. With the wireless solutions, ATMs can do away with their underground cables thus reducing costs.

Also launched is Tata Indicom 'EGO' which is a 'powerful device' through which voice and data can be transferred and has a broadband connectivity. Through this one can transfer files, make calls and shoot videos and the speed of operation is compatible with the CDMA network provided by Tata Indicom.
