is sure playing his part in the process. As managing director of Elvy, a lifestyle mail order catalogue company, Khosla is as much a keeper of the luxury-living flame as he is a gizmo junkie. He's very much a part of the BlackBerry fan club but says the best time to buy a gadget is "tomorrow".

What gadget have you been waiting to buy?
That would be a fully functional GPS (global positioning system) handset that works in India. Imagine navigating the winding and unnamed roads in India. It will become so much more pleasurable.

What gizmo do you find too embarrassing to own?
I can't think of any that would embarrass me. I'm proud of and enjoy owing every gizmo that I use. If I found a gizmo embarrassing I wouldn't own it.

Name one gadget that's an all-in-one favourite of yours.
My BlackBerry. I would be miserable without it. Instant e-mailing keeps me in touch very easily with my suppliers and customers all around the world.

What is one of the first gadgets you bought that you still use?
None. Unfortunately, most gadgets get outdated too soon. The technology is advancing so rapidly that within weeks of buying a new gadget a better version is available in market. So the best time to buy a gadget is tomorrow.

Is there a gadget that still puzzles you?
My son's PSP (PlayStation Portable) and the complex games that go on for days. I remember electronic games as simple car racing or Pac-Man that would finish in a few minutes.

What gizmo would you love to gift and to whom and why?
That would have to be a 3G-enabled mobile phone with video conferencing, to my family so we can communicate intimately during my travels.

If you could, what gizmo would you want to invent?
A time machine. It will help to make a quick trip to the past, re-visiting my childhood and experiencing the joy of being a kid again. Freedom of shuttling between time zones would be priceless.

Is there a gadget that you lost and still miss?
My last cellphone. All my contacts and data were lost with it and I didn't have a backup. The lesson to be learnt: most gizmos are reliable but it's always a good idea to keep a backup.

Is there a buy you regret spending so much money on?
I have enjoyed every gadget I have bought, as my decision for buying a new gadget is always after careful thought and evaluation.

What's your most high-performance yet easy-to-handle gadget?
My laptop, the Sony Vaio notebook. It's given me great service.
