Toonz to take animation to the masses

| Talking to Business Standard, R K Nair, executive director, Toonz Animation Academy, said the seminar series was to provide an opportunity to those attending to see a live demo of a finished piece of animated work undergoing step-by-step undoing process, climaxing at the initial phase from where it began, followed by an interactive Q&A session. |
| He added that, "the first of the seminar series has already been conducted in Kochi on August 16, and the remaining will be held in Thrissur on September 16, Kozhikode on September 17 and in Thiruvananthapuram on September 23". |
| The seminar will have famous names in the animation business such as Atul Rao, Prosenjit Ganguly and other known personalities. |
| Elaborating on the Academy, which is to be known as the Asian School for Film and Media Studies, Nair said the various animation academies the Toonz management plans to set up in different parts of the country would extensively provide certificate courses on 3D and 2D skill-based animation training. The Asian School for Film and Media Studies has lined up around 10 animation schools in the country. |
| As an initial phase, tier-II cities like Bangalore , Hyderabad and Ahmedabad would be the locations where the academies would be opened very soon |
| The academies will be franchisee-model institutions with Toonz. The franchisee partner would be involved in the marketing and the day-to-day affairs, he added. |
| With around 300 students set to pass out from the academies every year, the academy is also planning to create a branding in animation training in the years to come. A campaign is also on the cards, said Nair, adding that it would be kicked off only after the academies in different cities begin operations. |
| According to Toonz Animation India chief executive officer P Jayakumar, each academy is expected to be set up at an investment between Rs 1 crore and Rs 2 crore. The animation major already operates Toonz Animation Academy in Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata. |
