Touch my K-Jam, iPod you

director, Xerox Global Services, would rather survive without his family than his home theatre and his Windows-powered mobile phone. Even though he still needs his daughter to help him set up the home theatre, he needs no help to turn on his iPod full blast and relax on weekends.

How often do you upgrade your gadgets?

I have been using phones powered by Windows, and once in four months, I upgrade. I recently acquired the HTC Touch but am unable to let go of my earlier phone, the K-Jam.

What is the next gadget on your must-buy list?

I am hoping to lay my hands on the iPod Touch that looks like quite an exciting gizmo from Apple.

If you could build, what kind of dream gadget would you go for?

One gadget that doubles up as a Windows mobile phone with an integrated iPod. This should work on voice commands rather than a physical keypad or touchscreen and should be able to remind me with a voice activation feature about my calendar entries and also prompt me when to take a break.

If you were a gadget, what would you choose to be?

I would be a gadget that can sing, dial a number and doesn't take a call, if need be. Also, I should be able to say "I am not reachable because I don't want to take your call."

Name a wacky application that you had fun working with?

A feature on the mobile phone where one can click on photos and add them to the contacts list. It is fun to see their faces when contacts call up.

Can you unwind with the help of your gadgets?

My iPod helps me unwind with endless music files that can be stored onboard.

What songs are on your playlist?

From Raja (the short form of Ilayaraja) to Pink Floyd "" variety is the spice of life.

Any gadget that you regret not buying when the time was right?

A Sony Handycam. I could not capture some of the finest family moments with my elder daughter that I could do with my younger one after I bought this gadget.
