True colours of gaming

Your online game's psychedellic colours are perhaps not showing up. Now McAfee's 2006 version has a feature called the gaming suspend mode. This mode works by suppressing pop-up and enhancing the online experience when you use the full-screen mode.

"A security software most often affects the working of online games by not allowing all colours to show up. The new security software allows almost all the features of an online game to work without compromising the safety of the computer," said Monica Kelly, consumer business manager, Asia-Pacific, McAfee.

McAfee's security software claims features to meet the emerging threats and promises to protect consumers from a variety of internet security threats that include phishing and spyware.

The products have been designed to combat widening threats to home PCs posed by identity thieves, e-mail "phishing" scams, viruses, and potentially unwanted programmes such as spyware and trojans.

Phishing, which has now become a menace for internet users, may have met its match in McAfee's software that has anti-phishing plug-in which identifies and blocks known and potential 'phishing' websites and scams.

Its automated daily signature updates help the PC protect from recently discovered viruses.

"Our consumer business is booming globally and India is an important market for us. McAfee provides its consumers with superior technology in anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-spyware and internet security solutions, coupled with world class support facilities," said Kelly.

She added that with Indians getting into the digital era, the lifestyle exposes more access points to intrusion.

"If it looks like virus, smells like virus, then we treat it like virus," said Kelly.
