GSM major Vodafone Essar has reduced its international roaming rates on postpaid services for subscribers travelling to South Africa for the IPL cricket tourna-ment.
The company has entered into an agreement with South African mobile services provider Vodacom (a joint venture partner of UK-based Vodafone Group), to offer these special rates, Vodafone Essar said in a release issued here today.
Vodafone Essar is the official partner to IPL 2009, which starts on April 18, and the scheme is valid till May 30, 2009.
Under the scheme, subscribers can make local calls at Rs 12.6 per minute and international calls at Rs 34.8 a minute. The company will charge all local incoming calls at Rs 12.5 per minute and an SMS at Rs 5.
The company is also extending the 85 per cent discount to GPRS users.
