This order marks Gamesa’s maiden solar venture in Telangana and its first win from New Era Enviro Ventures, a leading renewable energy player in the country.
“This order closely follows our recent MW scale solar farm commissioned in TN and we are confident of more and more prospective customers trusting our capabilities in solar as much as they do in wind. The state of Telangana has been encouraging solar power in its energy mix and this order will definitely help lower dependence on conventional sources of energy. We are glad to begin 2016 on a strong note for our solar business,” said Ramesh Kymal, chairman and managing director, Gamesa India.
According to K V Sajay, executive vice president - solar business unit, Gamesa India, this project takes Gamesa’s combined solar order in the country to 33 MW till now, an encouraging number given its nascent entry into the sector. “This being the first order outside our home state and the maiden one in Telangana, we are confident of winning more orders for rest of India and establish ourselves as a strong solar player in the months to come,” he added.
While Gamesa will be responsible for engineering, supply of inverters and commissioning of the 23-MW project, supply of modules and structures form part of New Era Enviro Ventures scope. Commenting on the order, Mohan Reddy, head - projects, New Era Enviro Ventures said, “As a part of our IPP plan, it is a beginning and we have bigger plan to unveil in coming future.”
A leading player in wind energy, Gamesa India entered into solar business in 2015 offering a wide spectrum of solar energy solutions spanning across utility scale solar projects, rooftop based solar EPC, micro grids - rural electrification and solar asset management backed by its robust MW scale central inverters. As of today, Gamesa India has commissioned 9 MW of solar power projects in India. Globally, Gamesa group has commissioned 200 MW of solar power projects through its strategic tie ups and supplied photovoltaic inverters serving more than 150 MW of solar installations.
