Wastewater treatment firm Wabag rejigs key leadership positions

The move is aimed at aimed at improving execution capabilities and employee productivity and accomplish the group's vision of becoming a billion Euro company

In its quest to achieve become a billion Euro company, VA Tech Wabag Limited, the Chennai-based firm offering life cycle solutions to municipalities and industries in water and wastewater treatment, recently realigned its organisation structure to become a stronger and more agile global organisation.
 
“As part of this organisational realignment which is aimed at improving execution capabilities and employee productivity and accomplish the group’s vision of one billion Euro revenue, Wabag Group has been structured into four clusters - India, Europe, Middle East & Africa (MEA) and LATAM,” said Wabag in a press release.
 
S Varadarajan, member of the board and part of promoter group, has assumed charge as director and chief growth officer globally and will lead the human capital development initiatives of the group. Varadarajan, who was part of the core team that carried out management in 2005, played an active role in the reverse acquisition of erstwhile parent company in Austria in 2007 and was instrumental in successful listing of the company in the Indian bourses in 2010.
 
Parthasarathy Gopalan, who was the COO in CRH Plc, has been roped in to take over from S Varadarajan as the group chief financial officer. Prior to CRH, Parthasarathy had a long stint of 13 years with Ford Motor Company in different capacities, the last being CFO and director for its India operations.
 
Rajneesh Chopra who was earlier heading the service business would now be the global head of business development. He will be responsible for the business development activities globally leveraging the diverse expertise of the Group.
 
P Ravi Shankar with more than three decades of experience in human resources, has joined Wabag as global head of human resources. He will be supporting Varadarajan in the development of human capital of the group and help in gearing up the organisation towards its vision of becoming a billion Euro company.
 
Patrick Andrade, who was heading the Industrial Water Business, has taken over as the Chief operating officer for India cluster, and will be responsible for overall execution and project management in the India.
 
Bernard Birou, who was in leadership positions in Wabag Austria & Wabag Switzerland in late 90s and early 2000s has rejoined the group as head of Europe cluster. Erik Gothlin who was earlier leading the Wabag Europe Group now heads the MEA and LATAM clusters.
 
Wabag, a leader in water engineering industry in Indian sub-continent with its significant presence in over 25 countries, is led by technologist and entrepreneur Rajiv Mittal.
