Generating employment in an overpopulated country like India isn’t easy, but the advent of electric mobility may solve that problem. The introduction of electric vehicles would soon see a surge in employment rates, thus ensuring that thousands of people get jobs and can make a living.
According to a recent report, India only has 400 million employed out of a population of 1.39 billion. With such a high unemployment rate, the government still doesn’t have enough avenues to engage people and ensure that they can make a living. However, that doesn’t mean private companies are not trying to do their part to help solve this crisis. Over the years, many companies have been opening startups and employing people in various departments. But the most recent success story is the employment of thousands of workers in the electric mobility industry.
Dr. Ponnapula Sanjeeva Prasad, popularly known as Goldstone Prasad, is advocating to make electric mobility more accessible. He saw the project models in the United States and a few other countries in Europe and decided that India could replicate the same. Building electric vehicles offer two advantages: first, it would put less pressure on the demand for petrol and diesel, thereby reducing the dependence on nonrenewable energy sources. Secondly, the manufacturing of these vehicles would require thousands of workers every year. Therefore, it would also become a source of employment in the country.
When asked about his plans to generate employment, Dr. Prasad said, “This was a long time coming for India. Electric mobility is the future because we can’t use up all our natural resources. When we planned to manufacture electric vehicles in India, we expected to generate substantial employment in the country. However, we didn’t expect to receive such a massive response from the public. I feel proud that India grossed the highest sales record globally in 2020 for electric vehicles. It shows that we are on the right track.
There is no doubt that it’s not easy to employ all the eligible people in an overpopulated country like India unless you have industries blossoming in every corner. However, that substantial doesn’t mean we shouldn’t do anything about it. The manufacturing of EVs in India has already generated a lot of employment, particularly among the younger generation. From mechanics to engineers, we have thousands of people working in different departments, and I’m sure that this trend will continue to rise as more people are showing interest in buying electric cars.”
About Dr. P S Prasad also known as Goldstone Prasad is a trained doctor and out of the box entrepreneur living in Hyderabad. Over the years, he acquired large tracks of land which is his primary business now. His plan to make EVs popular in India will help make the environment cleaner and employ thousands of people looking eagerly for jobs. This would eventually lower the burden of unemployment and improve India’s economic situation in the future.
