CM Nitish Kumar inaugurates 'Mountain Man' Dashrath Manjhi's statue

Gaya (Bihar), Aug 27 (ANI): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar unveiled the 'Mountain Man' Dashrath Manjhi's statue and inaugurated a festival at his native village, Gahlaur, near Gaya district in Bihar. The function was attended by Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi, Agriculture minister Prem Kumar and other politicians. The 'Mountain Man' was a poor labourer who had carved a path through a hillock using only a hammer and chisel, to shorten the distance between Atri and Wazirganj blocks of Gaya town from 55 km to 15 km. The herculean task took 22 years to complete.
