Automobile exports rise 26% in Q2 on record PV, two-wheeler sales: Siam

Automobile exports from India rose 26 per cent year-on-year in September quarter driven by highest-ever shipments of passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers during the period, as per the latest data released by industry body SIAM. Passenger vehicle exports grew 23 per cent to 2,41,554 units in September quarter as against 1,96,196 units in the same period of last fiscal. Passenger car exports grew 20.5 per cent to 1,25,513 units in the second quarter as against 1,04,196 units in the September quarter of last fiscal. Similarly, utility vehicle shipments rose 26 per cent annually to 1,13,374 units in the July-September period. Van exports also grew 39 per cent year on year to 2,667 units in the year-ago period. Maruti Suzuki lines up Rs 925 cr to ramp up solar capacity by FY31

Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday said it plans to invest over Rs 925 crore to expand its captive solar capacity to 319 MWp by FY2030-31. The car market leader announced the expansion of its solar capacity by 30MWp with two new projects. The company commissioned a 20MWp solar power project at its new facility in Kharkhoda, Haryana, and added another 10MWp solar capacity to its Manesar facility. With these additions, the company's solar capacity across its locations has enhanced from 49MWp to 79MWp in the last one year, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement. "Aligned with our parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation's Environment Vision 2050 and the Government of India's focus on renewable energy, we are systematically enhancing the use of renewable energy in our operations," MSI MD and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi stated. Lexus India posts 19% FY25 retail growth, clocks record March sales

Luxury carmaker Lexus India on Thursday said its retail sales increased 19 per cent for FY25 as compared to FY24. The company's retail sales increased 17 per cent in the fourth quarter as compared to the same period last fiscal, the company said in a statement. It, however, did not share exact sales number. The NX model led the company's growth in the January -March quarter, highlighting its popularity among Indian consumers seeking luxury SUVs, it added. The LM model also demonstrated outstanding demand, solidifying its appeal in the luxury mobility segment, Lexus India said. Automobile sales up 6% in FY25, dealers cautiously upbeat on FY26: Fada

Automobile retail sales in India rose 6 per cent to 2,61,43,943 units in FY25 with rural areas performing better than urban regions across passenger vehicle and two-wheeler segments, dealers' body FADA said on Monday. The last financial year saw growth in sales of passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers. Registrations of commercial vehicles and tractors however saw a dip in FY25 as compared to FY24. Overall retail sales stood at 2,45,58,437 units in the 2023-24 fiscal. As per FADA, passenger vehicle retail sales witnessed an increase of 5 per cent to 41,53,432 units last fiscal as compared to 39,60,602 units in FY24. Two-wheeler registrations rose 8 per cent to 1,88,77,812 units as compared to 1,75,27,115 units in 2023-24 fiscal. Automobile retail sales drop 7% in February amid slowing demand: Fada

Automobile retail sales across categories, including passenger vehicles and two-wheelers, witnessed a drop of 7 per cent in February amid declining demand, dealers' body FADA said on Thursday. Overall retail sales in the domestic market stood at 18,99,196 units last month, registering a dip of 7 per cent compared to 20,46,328 units in the year-ago period. "February witnessed a broad-based downturn across all categories," Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) President C S Vigneshwar said in a statement. During the month, dealers began expressing concerns about inventory being pushed to them without their consent, he added. "While such initiatives may serve broader business objectives, it is critical to align wholesale allocations with genuine demand to protect dealer viability and ensure healthy inventory management," Vigneshwar stated. Nissan Motor India on Monday reported a 44.76 per cent on-year rise in total sales at 8,567 units in February 2025, riding on exports. The company, which sold 5,918 units in February 2024, said all the powertrain options of its compact SUV Magnite are now E20-compatible with the Magnite BR10 naturally aspirated engine also becoming fully-compliant recently after the more powerful 1-litre HR10 turbocharged petrol engine, which became E20-compatible in August 2024.
