JSW MG Motor India on Saturday reported a 22 per cent rise in dispatches to dealers at 8,158 units in July, posting its highest-ever monthly wholesale numbers. The new energy vehicles (NEV) portfolio recorded its highest-ever wholesale volumes in July 2026, contributing more than 80 per cent of the company's total sales, JSW MG Motor India said in a statement. JSW MG Motor India on Wednesday reported a 30 per cent year-on-year rise in wholesale sales at 7,568 units in June, its best-ever monthly sales. Electric vehicles continued to drive the growth, contributing over 75 per cent of the company's total sales in June 2026, JSW MG Motor India said in a statement. Rising fuel prices, lower EV running costs, and geopolitical uncertainties in West Asia further accelerated customer preference for electric mobility, it added. Commenting on the June sales performance, JSW MG Motor India Chief Commercial Officer, Vinay Raina, said it reflected steady demand across the portfolio and "marks our highest-ever wholesale performance, with electric vehicles continuing to account for a significant share of our overall sales". India's automobile retail sales grew 9.55 per cent to a record 25,31,067 units in May, while EV penetration crossed 11 per cent for the first time, as dealers saw a surge in enquiries for fuel-efficient and green vehicles after last month's fuel price hikes amid the West Asia crisis, FADA said on Monday. The cumulative automobile retail sales in India stood at 23,10,451 units in the same month last year. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the figures reflect the best May performance ever recorded across commercial (CV), passenger vehicle (PV) and the overall EV penetration. The company said it witnessed strong sales acceleration in the second half of CY2025, driven by consistent improvement in quarterly performance and a sharp surge in December. "The H2 performance of CY2025 clearly reflects the direction we have taken for Renault in India. Automobile exports from India rose 26 per cent year-on-year in September quarter driven by highest-ever shipments of passenger vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers during the period, as per the latest data released by industry body SIAM.
