India's digital public infrastructure (DPI) has achieved world-class scale, but challenges relating to digital access, data governance, interoperability and cyber security remain areas of concern, Chief Economic Advisor V Anantha Nageswaran said on Friday. Addressing an ICRIER event on "Digital Public Infrastructure & Public Service Delivery", Nageswaran said large sections of the population, particularly the elderly, people living in areas with poor connectivity and those with low literacy and limited digital fluency, still face barriers in accessing digital services. "Digital infrastructure, however sophisticated, is not the same as digital inclusion in the fullest sense. Union Minister of Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Saturday said India's scientific progress must move beyond laboratories and focus on meaningful engagement with citizens, students and youth. Addressing a gathering at the four-day India International Science Festival (IISF) here, he said the festival was conceived not as a routine academic gathering but as an open, public-facing platform that brings science closer to people. The festival encourages direct interaction between scientists and beneficiaries of scientific research, he said, emphasising the government's push for greater coordination among science ministries and departments. Digital infrastructure provider CloudExtel on Thursday said it has raised Rs 200 crore in debt from a leading private sector bank to accelerate the development of AI-ready digital infrastructure and expand its metro fibre network across India. The Mumbai-headquartered company did not disclose the name of the lender. The capital infusion is complemented by a proportional follow-on equity investment from CloudExtel's existing shareholders to support its expansion plans, according to a company statement. The debt will be used to fund CloudExtel's upcoming Data Centre Interconnect (DCI) network initiative, aimed at providing high-capacity, low-latency, and redundant connectivity between data centrescritical infrastructure for AI workloads, cloud computing, and digital content delivery. Global technology and digital talent solutions provider NLB Services on Monday announced its foray into the Global Capability Centre (GCC) segment and is eyeing USD 200 million revenue over the next five years, a senior company executive has said. The company also announced the appointment of Abhilash Raghavan as Chief Business Officer (CBO) of its GCC vertical, who will lead global business strategy and accelerate growth across priority markets.
