Honda unveils electric SUV concept; to debut in Indian market in 2027

Japanese auto major Honda Motor Co., Ltd, on Wednesday unveiled Honda 0 a (alpha), its next-generation EV, which is scheduled to go on sale in India in 2027. The Honda 0 a is being developed as an SUV that will blend with both urban and natural environments, supporting people's lives in every situation, the automaker stated while unveiling the model at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The production model of the Honda 0 a is scheduled to go on sale globally, mainly in Japan and India, in 2027, it added. Honda 0 a would be the first battery electric vehicle model for the company in India. Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Honda Power Pack Energy, Bhago Mobility partner for green fleet services

Honda Power Company on Monday said its subsidiary Honda Power Pack Energy has partnered with sustainable transportation solution provider Bhago Mobility to offer green fleet management services for last-mile delivery in the electric vehicle segment. Under the collaboration, Bhago Mobility will deploy Honda e: Swap-powered electric vehicles at strategic locations in Bangalore and Delhi, benefiting the e-commerce fleets as well as vehicles engaged in passenger mobility, the company said. Bhago Mobility will launch 100 vehicles within the next few months of 2024 and aims to reach 10,000 vehicles in the next three years, it said. LG, Honda to set up $4.4-bn joint venture in US to make EV batteries

Major South Korean battery maker LG and Japanese automaker Honda are investing USD 4.4 billion in a joint venture in the United States to produce batteries for Honda electric vehicles in the North American market, the two companies said on Monday. The plant's site is still undecided, but construction will begin in early 2023, with mass production of advanced lithium-ion battery cells to start by the end of 2025, they said. Honda seeks roadmap on electric vehicles before India launch

Japanese auto major Honda Motor Co has started working on electric vehicles keeping in mind India's push for such automobiles but said a clear road map is required for successful commercial launch. The company, which operates in India through a wholly- owned arm Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), has already put in place a separate team in its research and division unit for electric vehicles since last year, a senior company official said. "We are aware of India government's push for all electric vehicles (EVs) by 2030. Globally also there is a push for EVs. So we (Honda) have started working on development of such vehicles," HCIL President and CEO Yoichiro Ueno told PTI here. Honda has already stated that two-thirds of its global sales would come from electrified vehicles by 2030.
