India's largest and most valuable company Reliance Industries Ltd has been ranked the second best brand globally on the FutureBrand Index for 2024, ahead of brands like Apple and Nike. The ranking highlights brands that continuously evolve strategies to deliver on both brand purpose and experience, staying ahead of market shifts. Reliance jumped 11 places in the latest ranking, according to the ranking released by FutureBrand. The company was ranked at 13th place in 2023 and is ranked at 2nd in the latest ranking. The list is led by Korean brand Samsung. Reliance ranks ahead of well-known global brands like Apple, Nike, Walt Disney, Netflix, Microsoft, Intel and Toyota. Reliance is the only Indian brand on the list. "A future brand is a brand poised for future success. India has ranked at 127 out of 146 countries in terms of gender parity -- an improvement of eight places from last year -- according to the World Economic Forum's annual Gender Gap Report, 2023. The World Economic Forum (WEF) ranked India at 135 out of 146 countries in the Global Gender Gap Index in the report's 2022 edition. India has improved by 1.4 percentage points and eight positions since the last edition, marking a partial recovery towards its 2020 parity level, the report stated. The country has attained parity in enrolment across all levels of education, it said. India has closed 64.3 per cent of the overall gender gap, the report said. However, it underlined that India has reached only 36.7 per cent parity on economic participation and opportunity. : World Co-operative Monitor, published by the International Cooperative Alliance, has honoured a primary level labour cooperative in Kerala. Vadakara-based Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) has been ranked second in the list of Industry and Utilities Cooperatives in the sectoral rankings, for the third consecutive year, a statement said here. ULCCS has been named just below the Spain-based Corporation Mondragon. This ranking is based on the ratio of turnover over gross domestic product (GDP) per capita. ULCCS bagged the same position in 2018 and 2019, it said. The Industry and Utilities section includes cooperatives operating in industrial sectors with the exception of the food industry as well as those whose economic activity deals with utilities. It includes worker cooperatives in the construction sector and users' cooperatives in the utilities sector, that is, cooperatives which are active in the management of infrastructure for a public service.
