India pacer Arshdeep Singh linked his success in the Super Over against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Super 4s match to his ability to nail the wide yorkers. Arshdeep was taken to the cleaners by Sri Lanka batters Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera, getting smashed around for 26 runs in two overs here on Friday. But the left-arm pacer came back well and conceded just two runs in the Super Over, and also took the wickets of Perera and Dasun Shanaka. My feeling was thatwe got hit in the Power Play, but everyone chipped in later and took the game to Super Over. My plan in the Super Over was clear bowl wide yorkers, and make them (SL batters) score on the off-side, said Arshdeep in a video posted by BCCI. The plan worked to perfection as both Perera and Shanaka were caught at deep point (Rinku Singh) and deep backward point (Jitesh Sharma) as India emerged the winner in the Super Over after the scores were tied at 202 in the regulation time. Arshdeed has played just two matches in the ongo

"It was one of those days when I was in the zone," said India captain Harmanpreet Kaur after smashing her fastest fifty in T20 Internationals here on Wednesday. Harmanpreet, who has been battling inconsistency, was at her belligerent best against Sri Lanka in a Women's T20 World Cup match. She completed her half-century off 27 balls and on the last delivery of India's innings. Her previous fastest fifty -- off 29 balls -- also came against Sri Lanka back in 2018. India won the game by 82 runs after posting 172 for three, the highest total of the World Cup thus far. "It was one of those days where I was in my zone, I was thinking positively and hitting anything that was in my zone. These wickets aren't very true for batting. "You have to keep rotating strike and only when the ball is in the zone can you swing your bat," the India captain said post the big win. The 98-run stand between Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma laid the platform for a big total. "We just wanted to go with t
On a sticky wicket after a mixed start to the campaign, India will look to fix their batting woes to bolster their net run rate when they take on bottom-placed Sri Lanka in their third and penultimate Group A match of the T20 Women's World Cup here on Wednesday. It has not been smooth sailing for the Indians in the showpiece event so far, having lost to New Zealand by 58 runs in their tournament-opener and then scampering home in 18.5 overs against arch-rivals Pakistan while chasing a modest 105. India's main problem in the tournament so far is the performance of their batters, especially the explosive opening combination of Shafali Verma and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. While Shafali scored just 2 and 32 in the first two games, Mandhana also faired poorly managing 12 and 7 runs. And it's time the duo fires in unison to ease the pressure on the middle-order. To make matters worse for India, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored 15 and 29 retired hurt, is doubtful for the match aga
