Microsoft on Thursday announced key leadership appointments for its India and South Asia operations, with immediate effect. Nitin Mittal, Himani Agrawal, and Aparna Kondaboina will take on new roles to drive the company's AI initiatives and overall business strategy in the region, according to a statement. Nitin Mittal has joined as Industry Leader, Digital Natives, India & South Asia. He brings over 24 years of experience in building digital platforms across finance, retail, e-commerce, and media sectors. His previous leadership roles include stints at Zee Entertainment, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), and founding SOLV, a B2B platform for SMEs. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said he is the product of the bond" that exists between India and the US, as top government officials and American lawmakers lauded the Indian community's contribution during Republic Day commemoration here. The Consulate General of India in Seattle hosted a special reception on Sunday at the Bell Harbour Conference Centre to commemorate India's 76th Republic Day. Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson and Nadella were the Guests of Honour at the reception attended by over 500 people from the Indian-American community, according to a press release issued by the Consulate. Microsoft is investing USD 2.2 billion over the next four years in Malaysia's new cloud and artificial intelligence infrastructure as well as partnering with the government to establish a national AI centre, its CEO Satya Nadella said on Thursday.
