The American financial legislation, the National Defense Authorization Act for 2000, requires the US Secretary of Defence to submit an annual report “on military and security developments involving the People’s Republic of China (PRC)”.
“The report shall address the current and probable future course of military-technological development of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and the tenets and probable development of Chinese security strategy and military strategy…,” states the legislation.
On Thursday, the US Department of Defense submitted a report to the Congress entitled “Military and security developments involving the People’s Republic of China”.
