Who is Yogi Adityanath?
Yogi Adityanath is an Indian politician and a Hindu monk who is serving as the 21st Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh since March 2017. He is the longest-serving CM of Uttar Pradesh (for over six years). He is a former Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur constituency, Uttar Pradesh, for five consecutive terms from 1998 to 2017 before he became the UP CM.
He is a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Adityanath became the CM of Uttar Pradesh on March 26, 2017 after the BJP won the 2017 State Assembly elections when he was a campaigner.
Adityanath is also the head priest of the Gorakhnath Math, a Hindu monastery in Gorakhpur since September 2014. He is also the founder of Hindu Yuva Vahini, a Hindu nationalist organisation.

Yogi Adityanath was born as Ajay Singh Bisht on June 5, 1972 in Pauri Garhwal, Uttar Pradesh (now in Uttarakhand) in a Rajput family. He obtained an intermediate diploma degree from Rishikesh's Sri Bharat Mandir Inter College in 1989 and later earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Uttarakhand. In 1990, he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). When he was a student, he actively participated in several social movements and activities. Around 1990s, he left his home to join the Ayodhya Ram temple movement and in 1994 , he became a disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath, the chief of the Gorakhnath Math.
At the age of 26, Adityanath was the youngest member of the 12th Lok Sabha and was elected to the Parliament from Gorakhpur for five consecutive terms.
