The much-awaited Volvo Ocean Race, which will stop over in India for the first time in the event’s 35 year history, now has seven confirmed entries with crews racing aboard the Volvo Open 70, the world fastest mono-hull racing yacht.
The teams include those from Spain, Sweden, the US, Russia and Ireland.
“Each racing yacht will be manned by a professional crew of 10. This time around, for the first time, a non-competing media specialist will also be on board,” a spokesperson said. The race will stop over in Kochi for 10 days from December 13.
