Mahindra KUV100: Key specs of the 'Young SUV'

Mahindra has launched its micro SUV, KUV100 at a price of Rs. 4.42 lac (ex-showroom, Pune). Bookings for the KUV100 had already started a couple of weeks back and are sure to take a boost after this impressive pricing. KUV100, where KUV stands for Kool Utility Vehicle, has no direct competitor in the Indian auto market. However, it is likely to compete with the B-segment hatches, majorly with Hyundai Grand i10, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Ford Figo. Having said this, Maruti is expected to launch Ignis sometime this year which will also fall in the same segment.

Speaking of the mechanicals, Mahindra KUV100 is powered by brand new three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The petrol will be the mFalcon G80 1.2-liter unit. The engine produces 82 bhp @ 5,500 rpm and 114 Nm of peak torque in between 3500-3600 rpm. The diesel will be the mFalcon D75 1.2-liter turbo diesel. The engine generates 77 bhp @ 3750 rpm and 190 Nm of max torque between 1750-2250 rpm. 

KUV100 has a third seat in the middle of the first row to accommodate an adult which makes it a 6 seater. It also comes as a 5 seater in the higher variants. In terms of safety, Mahindra has announced that the KUV100 will come with standard ABS across all its variants while dual-front airbags will be optional in all the variants. 

KUV100 comes in 7 body colors namely; Designer Grey, Pearl White, Flamboyant Red, Aquamarine, Dazzling Silver, Midnight Black and Fiery Orange. The car has various storage spaces like the under floor storage in 2nd row and co-driver seat, cooled glove box and sunglass holder. KUV100 also features a gear indicator, puddle lamp and an illuminated key ring. The infotainment system is a 6-speaker unit with Bluetooth, Hands-Free, USB, DIS and AUX connectivity.
