The number of connected digital signage displays will reach 87.2 million in 2021. Digital signage is used in numerous market verticals such as retail, healthcare, transportation, office and enterprise, education, food service and outdoor signage. At the end of 2016, there were approximately 37.6 million connected digital screens in use worldwide. But, according to Research and Markets, which announced the addition of the “Digital Signage M2M and IoT Applications — 2nd Edition”, this number will grow at a CAGR of 18.3 per cent to reach 87.2 million units by 2021. Digital Signage M2M and IoT Applications is the second consecutive report analysing the latest developments on the global digital signage market. Leading providers of digital signage solutions include CMS software providers such as Scala and its new owner STRATACACHE as well as Four Winds Interactive and Signagelive, media vendors and lastly display manufacturers.

Internet over laundry

High-speed internet and Wi-Fi are among the most important factors to apartment dwellers when making a rental decision—even more than in-room laundry facilities—says a new survey by Comcast’s multifamily development services division, XFINITY Communities. The report, “Networking with Residents: Technology Drives the Multifamily Industry,” examines the state of technology in the multifamily industry by including input from property managers and developers. Among those surveyed, 87 per cent believe technology plays either an extremely or very important role in keeping residents satisfied, with 75 per cent reporting the majority of new and prospective residents ask about communications services (internet, phone, TV) in their building prior to renting. “Property managers and developers are balancing the requirement to provide sophisticated technology for their residents with the challenges of providing the latest network infrastructure,” said Mike Slovin, VP, XFINITY Communities.
