Colours and clothing may waltz in and out of style, but the watch is an accessory that rarely sees an off season. Here are a few picks to flaunt this summer:
Military mode
The new Dive Master 500 Mecha by Victorinox offers the best of two worlds: the acclaimed design and functionality of the Dive Master Black Ice, and the technical performance and prestige of a mechanical movement, formerly available only as a limited edition. The new Dive Master 500 Mecha, taking off from its predecessors, has been redesigned to fit a strong mechanical self-winding movement. Luminous hands allow for legibility, and similarly with its luminous indexes and markers. The dial has been redone with more structure and detail, improving visual recognition of key information. The sturdy case construction, with its high level of water and shock resistance, remains untouched except for the new mineral caseback. The new Dive Master 500 Mecha comes in four different styles, including two new colour editions with matching orange or red dials and genuine rubber straps. This piece is priced at approximately Rs 50,000.
Go Natural
Swatch, meanwhile, has some interesting options available in their spring-summer collection — and there’s quite a range there. From neon streams to beach wear, Swatch this season has gone impossibly colourful. Under their Natural Sophistication range, you could check out the rather uniquely-shaped watch titled Leaforay. It’s delicately feminine and shapely; a timepiece in light steel grey that could almost be an ornament. Available at all Swatch outlets. Price: Rs 4,500.
Black beauty
Stylish and sporty, the new Oris TT3 Chronograph Black, latest in the line of the TT3 Chronographs, stands out in the current crowd of dials. With Formula One styling, the TT3 Chronograph Black’s large (44.50mm in diameter) specially coated titanium case is a deep black. Even the carbon dial is black, making the displays of current and elapsed time with their luminous inlay even easier to read under the sapphire crystal. The black rubber strap completes the look. The red rotor, visible through the window in the case, shows the Oris High-Mech quality of the chronograph movement. This watch is waterproof to 100 metres/10 bar, and the crowns are protected by the Quick Lock System. Available at stores Swiss Gallery, Popley La Classique and Swiss Paradise in Mumbai. Price on request.
Classic wear
And here’s something from Van Heusen that can be used for both casual and formal wear. The brand’s two new no-fuss watches are a reasonable buy at Rs 2,750 onwards. Available at Van Heusen stores, Lifestyle and Shopper’s Stop.
