Preet Bedi finds immense knowledge in trend forecasting books. But it's wit that keeps him de-stressed.

The very mention of books takes Preet Bedi, CEO, Percept Picture Company, on a different level of excitement. The very tone of his voice becomes underlined with a passion that can be found only in the most voracious readers.

Whether the book is a popular fiction, semi classic, management jargon or trend forecasting, Bedi is sure to get his hands on it. But what he relishes most are books that indulge in trend forecasting.

Take, for instance, the book that is currently keeping him busy "" The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business is Selling Less of More by Chris Anderson, which he finds "fantastic" for its arguments and content. "I like trend books that are predictive and help me identify the trends in business and management," he adds.

But when he's in the mood to relax, it's Sidney Sheldon that de-stresses Bedi. "I enjoy the racy writing of Sheldon. It's easy on the mind and quick to read." On a more serious note, Bedi laughs as I ask him to repeat the names of his favourite authors.

"I love the works of some old authors, the semi classic ones, but you might not have even heard of them," he grins.

So, it's author Daphne du Maurier and her book Rebecca that top Bedi's list of favourites, with PG Wodehouse's witty writing second in line.
