Bookings for the Tata Tiago will commence across India from Thursday. Potential buyers will have the opportunity to meet football great Lionel Messi, who is also the global brand ambassador for the passenger vehicle division of Tata Motors.

Customers can book the new hatchback through the company’s authorized dealerships, or opt for online booking. An amount of Rs10,000 has to be paid at the time of the booking. To meet Lionel, they will have to end the sentence starting: I love Tata Tiago because…

The Tiago, earlier named Zica but renamed after the outbreak of the Zika virus, flaunts the next generation ‘Impact’ design of the company. It comes with a new design language that is elegant yet sporty, leaving a lasting ‘impact’ in its trail.

The 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine churns out 84bhp and 114Nm of torque, while the diesel version has a 1.05-litre 3-cylinder Revotorq engine, which will produce 67bhp and 139Nm of torque. Both engines come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Tata Tiago will go on sale on March 28 and is expected to be sold at around Rs3.5 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Tiago, which has been designed for young car buyers, exudes cutting edge design, technology and driving dynamics to address the new customer segment.
