About 30 persons, including 14 TCS employees from Hyderabad, have died and 16 others were injured in a road accident when a private bus carrying them to Shirdi from Hyderabad fell off a road bridge into an adjoining gorge at Naldurg near Osmanabad in Maharashtra in the wee hours of Saturday.
The deceased and the injured hail from different parts of AP who had boarded the bus from Hyderabad yesterday night according to police.
The news of the accident shook the state administration as one state minister along with a medical team rushed to the accident site by a special helicopter.
Chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy spoke with his Maharashtra counter part, Prithviraj Chauhan, for coordination of emergency relief measures. He also directed the officials to create a help desk and a special team at the Osmania Hospital to assist the relatives to identify the dead bodies after being shifted from Osmanabad, according to a press release.
Confirming the death toll, the state road transport minister B Satyanaraya told reporters that the injured are being treated in a hospital at Sholapur while the arrangements have been made to shift the dead bodies to Hyderabad.
The deceased software engineers, many of them girls, were said to have joined the software company recently and planned for a pilgrimage to Shirdi in Maharashtra for the weekend.
