With the nation gearing up for polls, the lone company manufacturing the indelible ink to mark voters, has supplied 20 lakh phials of the liquid to the Election Commission.

"Each phial containing ten ml of indelible ink is sufficient for marking at least 700 voters," K G Suresh MD of Mysore Paints and Varnish told PTI here.

The company is the only manufacturing unit in the country to produce and supply indelible ink to the Election Commission.

The manufacturing facility was set up in 1935 by Mysore ruler Sri Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. The then Mysore Lac and Paints was renamed Mysore Paints and Varnish a few years ago.

The company has also exported indelible ink to Mangolia, Ghana, Cambodia, the Maldives and South Africa, Suresh said.
