Asia MotorWorks Limited (AMW), an Ahmedabad-based company specialising in design and manufacture of tractors, tippers and high-tonnage trucks, is contemplating foraying into bus manufacturing in the next two to three years.
“The idea is in the concept stage. We are working on the prototype,” A Ramasubramanian, president (commercial vehicle division) of AMW, told mediapersons here on Tuesday. Announcing the launch of its new 3123 truck in the Andhra Pradesh market, he said the company currently has an installed capacity of 50,000 units per year at its Bhuj facility.
“We expect to achieve full capacity utilisation in one or two years down the line,” Ramasubramanian said, adding the company hoped to sell 500 vehicles per month this year, as against 250 units per month last year.
