France-based Alcatel-Lucent has filed 75 patents on various technologies, which were developed by its research and development (R&D) centre in Chennai.
Munish Seth, president and managing director (India regional unit), Alcatel-Lucent India Limited, said “India is a major hub for Alcatel-Lucent’s global R&D ecosystem. In the six years, we have filed 75 patents on various technologies developed from India.”
The company has over 3,000 engineers and scientists across four locations in India, including Chennai, Gurgaon, Noida and Bangalore. “Chennai currently has the global R&D ownership on major products like fixed access element management system,” he added.
Alcatel-Lucent has consolidated all of its centres in Chennai and moved to a new 60,000-sft central location on the Old Mahabalipuram Road, also called the IT corridor of Chennai. The new centre was inaugurated by Union minister of state for communications and information technology Sachin Pilot on Tuesday.
