AP may land M&M's Rs 300-cr aerospace unit

The Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Group is evincing interest in setting up a major aerospace project in Andhra Pradesh envisaging an investment of around Rs 300 crore, according to chief minister K Rosaiah. 

The automobile major, in June this year, had announced its plans to invest Rs 250 crore in a facility in Bangalore to make aircraft and components. The Bangalore facility will manufacture aircraft components initially, and assemble small general transport planes in two years.

TASL's first cabin to Sikorsky on Nov 23 
Reviewing the progress of the country's first aerospace and precision engineering special economic zone (SEZ), set up on 500-acre at Nadargul and Adibhatla villages in Rangareddy district, with top officials here on Sunday, Rosaiah said Tata Advanced Systems Limited’s (TASL) facility at the aerospace SEZ to manufacture cabins for Sikorsky-92 helicopters was on schedule. 

“The first cabin from the manufacturing line will be exported to the Sikorsky’s assembly unit in the US on November 23 with two more scheduled to be delivered by the year end,” the chief minister said.
