Bosch rolls out Rs 50 crore TN unit

The facility will produce power train sensors, fuel delivery modules and air management components for automotive and two-wheeler systems

Bosch, a supplier of technology and services, today inaugurated its sixth manufacturing unit in India at Gangaikondan in Tamil Nadu. The new facility has been set up with an investment of Rs 50 crore.

The facility is located in the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT's) area in Gangaikondan and is spread in 6,500 square meters of built-up area.

“The new plant is an important part of Bosch’s strategy to enter the competitive two-wheeler market in India with electronic fuel injection systems,” said Sandeep N, regional president for gasoline systems at Bosch Limited.

The facility will produce power train sensors, fuel delivery modules and air management components for automotive and two-wheeler systems. The facility will facilitate the company’s gasoline systems business to further localise manufacturing and increase the cost competitiveness.

“It is important for our gasoline systems business division to have a strong manufacturing footprint in an important and growing market like India. The extended local production capabilities in this new location will help gasoline systems to further grow its market share with a competitive product portfolio,” said Steffen Berns, managing director of Bosch Limited, during the plant's inauguration.

The plant was officially inaugurated by Stefan Kampmann, executive vice president of gasoline systems; Franz Hauber, executive vice president, for manufacturing and quality.

Prior to the inauguration of this new facility, the gasoline systems division shared the Bosch Naganathapura manufacturing facility for its local production.
