BPCL on Monday commissioned a new crude distillation unit at its refinery in Chembur in Mumbai. The CDU is estimated to cost Rs 1,419 crore, and is expected to save Rs 128 crore annually on fuel consumption.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Oil and Natural Gas, dedicated the facility to the nation.

The new unit will help in the dismantling of two older units that were set up in 1955, which will create space for refinery modernisation.
