Weak buying sentiments and lesser liquidity availability has hit the car market with sales slowing down to less than 3 per cent in September even as manufacturers gear up to tackle the situation.
Manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, General Motors and Tata Motors among others collectively recorded a dismal growth of 2.83 per cent last month with sales of 108,823 units as compared to 105,822 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
Motorcycle sales however, gained momentum selling 632,369 units during the reporting month, an increase of 15.22 per cent over the same month last year when the industry registered a sales of 548,816 units.
The overall sales in the two wheeler segment, which includes scooter, motorcycles, mopeds and electric two wheelers saw an increase 14.51 per cent at 778,424 units as against 679,766 units sold in the same month a year ago.
