CESC net up 41% y-o-y

CESC's total income for the same period increased from Rs 574 crore to Rs 680 crore, thereby posting a growth of 18.46 per cent.

Rise in generation by 9 per cent over the previous quarter coupled with reduction in interest rates and lower transmission and distribution (T&D) losses were the factors which contributed to the the company's improvement in net profit.

The company's net profit for the year ended March 31, 2008 stood at Rs 354 crore, a 17.6 per cent rise over Rs 301 crore posted in 2006-07.

Its total income for the same period went up from Rs 2,577 crore to Rs 2,898 crore, a growth of 12.45 per cent.
