American motorcycle brand Cleveland CycleWerks India targets to reach sales of around 25,000 motorcycles in India in the next three years, focusing on the 200-500 cc market -- where it has launched two products in the country till now.

The company, which set up its first dealership network in Mumbai in September this year, is looking at expanding to around 40-50 dealerships by that time, said Pranav T Desai, the director and CEO of the company.

Upon launching the third showroom in Chennai, after Mumbai and Hosur, Desai said that the company will have 10 showrooms by the end of this financial year, including in Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Indore, Tiruppur, Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi. These showrooms will be set up in the coming months. The company would focus on dealerships in Tier-I and Tier-II cities for expansion.

The company plans to finalise the agreements for another 20 showrooms during the current financial year and the target is to have 40-50 showrooms in the next three years.

"There is good traction in the market. According to SIAM, the 200-500 cc segment in the country was around eight-nine per cent of the overall motorcycle market and is expected to grow at an average rate of 11-12 per cent. We are aiming that in the next three years, we should reach at least 25,000 numbers minimum," he said. "There is no head-to-head competition with any brand. Instead, the company will be developing its own market," he added.

The company has an assembly line at its Pune facility, which was started in the middle of June and currently assembles the bikes for the country. It has a capacity of 25,000 bikes a year.

The company plans to introduce global products in India. Further, if some customisations are needed for the Indian customer, the company will look into it in the future. The discussion regarding new products for the country is going on at present. The company has so far launched the Ace Delux and Misfit models in India.
