The government today said Anil Ambani-promoted Dadri power plant in Uttar Pradesh will get gas only when it is ready to utilise the fuel.
Answering questions in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Oil and Natural Gas Jitin Prasada said the demand for gas is far more than its supply and therefore as per the policy gas is being provided first to existing plants and then to those which are likely to come up within a year.
"Dadri power plant will get the entire quantity but only when it is ready to utilise it," the Minister said.
Ambani has announced to set up gas-fired power plant in Dadri to generate 7,480 MW of electricity.
The government had earlier also said that it may allocate natural gas to the proposed power plants like Dadri project only six months prior to commissioning, as reservation of gas is not allowed under the present policy.
