Despite threats of a global meltdown looming large, engineers are definitely on the 'wanted list' for software and manufacturing firms. As placements got underway for 98 students of Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT) consulting giant Deloitte recruited upto 20 students, while the highest package of Rs 13.5 lakh was offered to one of the students by software giant Microsoft.
“So far, the highest pre-placement offer made to the current batch is Rs 13.5 lakh per annum from Microsoft, while through campus placements, the highest pay offer has been Rs 12 lakh per annum. Most of the organisations are offering salary packages that range from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh per annum. These figures are a significant improvement from the maximum package of Rs 8.5 lakh per annum accepted last year,” said Mukesh Sharma, placement officer at DA-IICT.
While Saba Softwares hired 13 students, consulting firm ZS Associates hired 10 students, newbie recruiter Samsung hired 9 students and decision sciences and analytics services provider Mu Sigma hired 12 students respectively. Placements kicked off in July for both graduate and post-graduate student, 98 students have been placed since.
