Dhananjay Keskar, Director of IBS, a business management school, was today elected chairman of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI).
Rajiv Dube, President of Tata Motors (Passenger Car Business Unit), was elected vice-chairman, while Vikram Sakhuja, Chief Operating Officer (South Asia) of Group M Media India, was appointed as the Honorary Treasurer of ASCI.
"ASCI’s current focus is to increase awareness about its role and its code amongst two key audiences — the general public and advertisers and marketers," Madhukar Kamath, MD and CEO, Mudra Group, and the outgoing chairman of ASCI said.
The council added 47 new members in 2008-09, taking its total tally to over 300.
The ASCI is a voluntary organisation of the advertising industry and deals with complaints received against commercials which are considered false, misleading, indecent or illegal.
