Dunlop remains optimistic of revival of Sahagunj unit

Currently, operations at both Sahagunj and Ambattur are suspended since Oct, 2011 and Feb, 2012, respectively

Dunlop India, contesting a winding- up order in the Supreme Court, today said it was hopeful of a revival of its Sahagunj factory in West Bengal.

Ashok Kumar Agarwal, director of the Pawan Kumar Ruia- promoted company, said the management was trying to restart production at Sahagunj in a phased manner, starting with industrial products in the first phase.

Agarwal was speaking to shareholders at the company's annual general meeting here.

He said there was a plan for a 15-MW power plant at Sahagunj, which was still awaiting clearance from the state government.

When asked by the shareholders that what does the company intend to do if the final court order goes against it, Agarwal said: "We will take a decision at that point of time."

Currently, operations at both Sahagunj and Ambattur (Tamil Nadu) are suspended since October, 2011 and February, 2012, respectively.

The AGM was attended by a very small group of shareholders.

Agarwal and other officials declined to interact with the media after the AGM.
