Dynajet Machinery India, a subsidiary of the Germany-based Dynajet Machinery, is seeting up an engineering unit at Verna Industrial Estate in Goa. This is the company's first plant in India.

The plant will come up on a 1 lakh sq metre plot and will manufacture mining equipment.

Managing director of the company, Andrej Hropot, said the new plant is expected to start production in mid-2007, with an initial work force of 100 people. The plant, to be completed in six phases, will have a final intake capacity of 900 employees, he added.

The unit will be non-polluting and part of the requirements for manufacturing the machinery would be outsourced to local vendors who can supply metal sub-assemblies, electric sub-assemblies and hydraulic sub-assemblies.

"We are in the process of identifying local vendors who can meet the standards set by the company," said Hropot.

Hropot said that all raw materials would be acquired from the local market. "The company would outsource its requirement to at least 50 vendors who manufacture items required the company in the first phase. This will generate indirect employment," he added.

The company will also outsource its requirement for sub-assemblies. He went on to add that the new plant would not be a 100 per cent export unit. He also stated that the machinery manufactured by his company was not locally available.

Hropot said that most of the machinery required for manufacturing the goods would be bought from the local market and one core machinery and some components will be imported from Germany.

Explaining why Goa was chosen to as its base in the country, Hropot said, "Goa met logistic requirements of the company and had better infrastructure than other states. Most interestingly, the power supply, which is a major requirement, was better in the state compared to other places."
