eBay India today said it will introduce mobile enabled e-commerce platform next year as soon as 3G roll-out takes place in the country.
"Offering mobile-based eBay service is planned for 2010 and will synchronise with 3G rollout," eBay India Marketing Director Kashyap Vadapalli said here today.
This technology will help mobile users to make financial transactions through their cell phones.
He said with 3G we will have WAP-based service for the mobile eBay site and may also look at an application based platform.
Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) empowers mobile users with wireless devices to easily access and interact with information and services instantly
"There are some 2-4 million buyers on the internet and the market is about Rs 1,200 crore," Vadapalli said.
eBay is also offering a segment, 'global easybuy', which offers Indian consumers goods from the US.
eBay is also coming out with TV commercials and a radio campaign within days to draw users.
