The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) Department have conducted searches in various offices allegedly connected to Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, media reports said Tuesday.

While Karti Chidambaram did not immediately respond to a text message, officials in ED and IT departments in Chennai resfuse to either confirm or deny the search.

His father, former Finance Minister Chidambaram, however, tweeted "If govt wants to target me, it should do so directly. My family and I are quite prepared to face the "malicious onslaught" launched by government."
