Former Microsoft India chairman Ravi Venkatesan was today inducted into the board of directors of IT major Infosys as an additional director of the company with immediate effect.
Venkatesan would hold office upto the date of the annual general meeting in June when his appointment as a director would be placed for approval of the shareholders, a company statement said.
Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor NR Narayana Murthy, in the statement said, "Ravi Venkatesan is one of the best known leaders of corporate India. He brings enormous value with his vast experience in the software industries."
Prior to joining Microsoft, Venkatesan worked for over 17 years with Cummins, the statement said.
The company also said K Dinesh, member of the board and co-founder of the company would retire by rotation at the annual general meeting of the company to be held on June 11. Dinesh would not seek reappointment, it said.
Murthy was quoted as saying that "K Dinesh has been one of the co-founders of the company. The company had turned to him whenever there was any complex project to be undertaken. He has handled each of his responsibilities with extraordinary diligence, quality and professionalism. We wish him best of luck in his future endeavours."
The company also said the board of directors would meet on April 30, 2011 to finalise plans for the company's leadership succession post after Murthy's retirement as chairman of the board in August 2011.
