“Ford India is proactively contacting select customers to voluntarily inspect their EcoSport vehicles. In some of the affected vehicles, there is a possibility that the Rear Twist Beam (RTB) bolt may not be tightened to specification, which may cause the pivot bolt to break. This condition can potentially compromise vehicle handling and thereby increase the risk of an accident”, said a company statement. Ford is writing to 16,444 EcoSport customers for getting their vehicles inspected at a local Ford dealer. If needed, the dealership will carry out necessary rework free of cost. In December last year, Ford had recalled 20,752 units of EcoSport to fix and airbag and faulty fuel issue.
A million passenger vehicles have been recalled by domestic firms since July 2012 when Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers announced a voluntary recall code for its member companies.
