Former Karnataka additional chief secy Vidyashankar joins IESA as president

After Nasscom, India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the industry body representing the Indian Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) industry has appointed a retired bureaucrat as its president.

M N Vidyashankar, a former Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Commerce & Industries, Government of Karnataka has taken over as the president of IESA which has over 200 domestic and multinational enterprises as its members. During his over 30 years of association with the bureaucracy, Vidyashankar had also served as the Principal Secretary in the Department of IT, BT and Science & Technology in Government of Karnataka.

"We are entering into a decisive era and every stakeholder in the Indian ESDM space needs to collaborate together to make this happen. We are happy to have M N Vidyashankar joining IES, and are confident that under his able leadership, IESA will accelerate the ESDM growth journey and achieve its vision of 'Electronics can change India'," said Ashok Chandak, Chairman, IESA.

In January this year, former telecom secretary R Chandrasekhar had also taken over as the president at Nasscom, the apex industry body that represents the IT industry in India.

"I am extremely pleased and privileged to have got this opportunity. IESA has carved a niche for itself today and we will as a team look at taking it to the next level," said Vidyashankar commenting on his new role.
