Fortis Healthcare today said it has entered into an agreement with the promoters of the Lifeline Hospital at Alwar in Rajasthan to operate and manage the 100-bed facility.

"The move is in line with Fortis' strategy to strengthen its presence in India's tier-II cities. The addition of Lifeline Hospital takes the Fortis network to a total of 53 hospitals with over 8,000 beds spread across 13 states in the country," the company said in a statement.

Lifeline Hospital is presently a 100 bed facility and the plan is to expand it to a 150-bed facility in the near future, it added.

The hospital was set up in 2005 by Vinayak Healthcare Pvt Ltd, promoted by a doctor and a group of businessmen. After the agreement, the hospital will be re-christened as 'Fortis-Lifeline Hospital', it added.

Commenting on the development, Fortis Healthcare CFO Yogesh Sareen said: "As part of our expansion strategy, Fortis is focused on increasing penetration into smaller towns and cities in India through such strategic partnerships."

Vinayak Healthcare Pvt Ltd Founder Director Harish Gupta, said: "With this collaboration, we are confident enough that the public of Alwar will definitely be benefited with the quality of tertiary care services for which they had to travel to Delhi, Jaipur and other major cities."

The hospital hospital offers services with special focus on cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, dental and general surgery, the statement added.
